Abid Qureshi is a partner in the Financial Restructuring Practice at the global law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP. Abid focuses on chapter 11 cases and cross-border insolvencies, and has advised debtors, creditors, bondholders, hedge funds, institutional investors, and ad hoc and official creditors’ committees.

Abid holds an undergraduate degree in international relations from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, a law degree from the University of Toronto, and a masters’ degree from the London School of Economics. Since studying international human rights law and public international law, Abid has had a long-standing interest in the work of the United Nations, having also served as an intern in the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs in New York, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna. He has been an active member of the Board of Directors of UNA-NYC since 2005, during which time he has served in numerous officer and committee chair positions. Since 2013, he has served as President of UNA-NYC.
