UN Art Tour and Holiday Lunch

After the success of our UN Summer Garden Tour, this winter we’re offering a second outing, this time highlighting the UN’s art collection, preceded by a holiday luncheon. This special UNA-NYC chapter event will take place on December 16, with the luncheon at Copinette from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., followed by the UN Art Tour at 3:15 p.m. (rain or shine).

Historic Objects and Artistic Treasures at the United Nations

For the holiday season we are offering a unique private art tour — exploring many of the gifts created by celebrated artists and presented to the United Nations member states over the past seven decades. The tour entails an exciting opportunity to discover and learn the facts about the art and gifts placed in UN Headquarters in the heart of New York City. The official gifts to the United Nations by its member states epitomize the ideals, significance and values of the UN as an international organization.

In the plaza, visitors will find various international gifts including the ‘Twisted Gun’ which was a gift from Luxembourg, Italy’s gift of the ‘Sphere Within a Sphere,’ and the ‘Ark of Return,’ a permanent memorial which honors the victims of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade. Visitors will then enter through the Canadian Doors to admire Chagall’s glass window and other unique gifts in the General Assembly Lobby before moving to the third floor where the ‘Zanetti Mural,’ Norman Rockwell’s ‘Golden Rule’ mosaic, and many other unique pieces await them.

Pre-Tour Lunch at Copinette

Before the tour we will have a lunch at noon at Copinette, located nearby at the corner of 50th Street and First Avenue. There will be a three-course, pre-fixe luncheon offering at $60 including tax and tip (beverage/wine is extra and paid by guests).

The three options available for this outing:

• UN Art Tour only | $25
• Holiday Luncheon only | $60
• Luncheon and UN Art Tour | $85

After the Art Tour, you may enjoy shopping for special gifts for the holiday season from around the world at the UN Gift Shop and the UN Book Shop.

We hope you’ll enjoy another opportunity to meet up with other members and friends as we explore another fascinating side of the United Nations.
