UNA-USA Invites High Schools and Universities to Join Its Campus Chapter Network

The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) is seeking to expand its Campus Chapter network at high schools and universities across the country. These chapters offer students the opportunity to connect with the mission of the United Nations and to take meaningful action on global issues at the local level. If your New York City university or high school is interested in starting a UNA-USA Campus Chapter, please contact Ann Nicol, Executive Director of UNA-NYC, to learn more about joining this impactful movement.

Who We Are

UNA-USA is a grassroots movement of more than 20,000 Americans dedicated to advancing U.S. engagement with the United Nations. Guided by the mission to Educate, Inspire, and Mobilize, we empower members to advocate for a strong U.S.-UN partnership.

  • Educate: Expand understanding of the UN through national and chapter-led programs.

  • Inspire: Connect Americans with stories and initiatives from across the UN system.

  • Mobilize: Empower members to take action and advocate for U.S. leadership in global cooperation.

Why It Matters

With over 220 chapters and 500 individual champions nationwide, UNA-USA provides an established network for advocacy, learning, and service. More than 70% of our members are under 26, reflecting a strong youth-led foundation for global engagement.

Campus Chapter Activities

Campus chapters become hubs of leadership and action, with students taking part in activities such as:

  • Panel event & discussion with a UN expert or UNA-USA Global Goals Ambassador

  • Career event with professionals working in international affairs

  • Listening Tour stop with the UNA-USA Youth Observer

  • In-district meeting with a local legislator’s office

  • Fundraiser for UN agencies or humanitarian aid organizations

  • Debate on current events in collaboration with Model UN or International Relations clubs

  • Group volunteer project at a local shelter or organization

  • Food/book/clothing drive

  • Film screening to raise awareness on an important issue

In addition, students gain access to career-building opportunities, UN conferences, and exclusive briefings with UN officials through UNA-USA’s Young Professional membership.

Signature Events

Campus chapters are also invited to participate in UNA-USA’s national events, including:

  • United Nations Day (October 24, 2025) – Celebrating the UN’s anniversary with local and national programming.

  • Leadership Summit (November 2025) – Training leaders and advocates on effective organizing.

  • Global Engagement Summit (February 2026) – The largest annual gathering of UN supporters, held at UN Headquarters in New York.

  • Advocacy Summit (June 2026) – A Washington, D.C. convening with trainings, policy workshops, and a lobby day on Capitol Hill.

Through these experiences, students develop leadership skills, build networks, and raise awareness on critical international issues—while ensuring youth voices are heard in global dialogue.
