What New York City is Doing
Mayor’s Office to Prevent Gun Violence (OPGV)
The OPGV coordinates the city’s efforts to tackle the causes of gun violence in the city and to heal the trauma it causes. Among its programs, the OPGV has opportunities for youth and community members themselves to have an impact.
Mayor’s Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP)
Fifteen public housing developments see almost 20 percent of the violent crime that takes place in NYC public housing. Launched in 2014, the MAP program aims to reduce violence specifically in these developments.
Conflicts of Interest Board
This independent New York City agency promotes the integrity of the city government by ensuring that public servants in the city do not have any conflict of interest or other ethics problems.
