What New York City is Doing

  • NYC Early Learn Program

    This vital program under the NYC Department of Education provides children from six weeks to two years old with free or low-cost child care.

  • New York City Teaching Fellows Program

    This program gives people who are newly entering the teaching field the opportunity to educate NYC students in critical subject areas.

  • NYC Junior Ambassadors (NYCJA)

    The Mayor’s Office for International Affairs directs this program which works with partner schools throughout NYC to educate seventh-grade students on the United Nations. Learn about UNA-NYC’s participation in the program here.

  • Name and Gender Change Request Form

    Via this form, NYC’s school policy allows NYC students to change their name and gender on permanent school records without requiring legal documentation.

  • NYC DREAM Program

    This NYC public school initiative aids 7th graders in studying for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT).

  • NYC RISE Program

    Through a collaboration with the NGO NYC Kids RISE, NYC public students receive scholarship and saving support beginning in kindergarten.
