What New York City is Doing

• Task Force for Water Fountain and Bottle Refillers

  Lead by the city’s Sustainability Office and 7 other departments/agencies, this task force aims to repair or install 500 new water fountains and bottle refill stations in areas with limited public drinking water access by 2025.
  

• New York City Water Challenges

  This initiative aims to reduce water consumption in commercial and non-residential buildings, requiring participants to track water usage and develop water conservation plans.
  

• Waste Equity Law

  Under this law the city must reduce the permitted capacity of waste transfer stations in specific areas located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.
