UN Day Gala

In late October every year, the United Nations Association of New York commemorates United Nations Day at our Humanitarian of the Year Award Gala Dinner, where we honor prominent individuals and organizations for their contributions to the work of the United Nations.

The Gala has become an important and exclusive national event each fall. We consistently bring together diplomats, policymakers, UN supporters, business leaders, activists, and celebrities to call attention to the vital role the UN plays in advancing peace, prosperity and justice worldwide. Our Humanitarian of the Year Award honorees are global leaders in advancing a variety of UN causes, including climate activism and anti-trafficking work.

In order to fulfill our mission to bring the work of the UN to the American people, UNA-NYC relies on the support of donor organizations, and the Gala is our main fundraising opportunity each year. We therefore immensely appreciate any sponsorships, established through the purchase of table reservations or individual tickets, as well as any referrals to potential sponsors.

“United Nations Day,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres tells us, “marks the birthday of our founding Charter: the landmark document that embodies the hopes, dreams and aspirations of ‘we the peoples.’” At our yearly Gala, our highly distinguished guests come together to celebrate this important day by pledging their commitment — as partners together — to supporting the continued work of the United Nations for years to come.

NOTE: the 2023 UN Day Gala has been cancelled.

Due to scheduling conflicts this event is being postponed to 2024.  Watch for rescheduling date.
