UNA-NYC Donates to UNICEF for Haiti Earthquake Victims

In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti in January, UNA-NYC mobilized to match donations given by our Board of Directors in support of relief efforts to Haiti. We donated funds to UNICEF, to provide safe water, temporary shelter and essential medical supplies to the people of Haiti.

An estimated 1.26 million children have been directly affected by the earthquake. UNICEF is establishing interim care centers where children who have been separated from their parents receive physical and emotional support. At the same time, it is working with Haiti's social welfare agency to establish more permanent arrangements.
