How Do We Bring
the UN to You?
As the host chapter of UNA-USA, the United Nations Association of New York brings the work and ideals of the United Nations directly to the public through education, engagement and action. Situated in the city that is home to the UN, we connect New Yorkers with diplomats, UN officials, scholars, and civil society leaders, translating global issues into accessible conversations and meaningful opportunities for involvement. Through programs, events, advocacy initiatives, and cultural experiences, we make the United Nations relevant, tangible, and local — empowering individuals to engage with global challenges and contribute to a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.
Honoring United Nations Day
Each year, the United Nations Association of New York marks United Nations Day through two signature events that reflect the spirit and reach of the UN’s mission.
The UN Day Gala brings together diplomats, civic leaders, partners, and supporters for an evening of reflection and recognition, honoring prominent individuals and organizations for their contributions and whose work importantly advances a variety of UN causes.
The UN Day Race, by contrast, invites runners, families, and community members to take part in a public, citywide celebration of global unity, health and peace.
Together these events, one formal and one grassroots, embody UNA-NYC’s belief that supporting the United Nations is both a shared civic responsibility and a collective celebration, engaging New Yorkers from all walks of life in honoring the values and vision of the UN.
